Nantz Matienzo
Renante Nicolas Matienzo, better known as “Nantz,” is a contemporary artist, draftsman, muralist, visual artist, and sculptor from Antipolo-Rizal, Philippines. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology with a major in drafting from Marikina Polytechnic College (formerly MIST/MSAT), graduating in 2017. Nantz’s multifaceted artistic talents are reflected in his diverse body of work, which includes assemblage-layered, handcrafted wood sculptures made from various types of scrap wood, slab wood, and wood boards.
His distinctive style involves using acrylic and spray paints on layered, handcrafted wood cuts, which he combines and assembles into intricate figures and functional art pieces. Nantz’s work often features pop art and pop culture characters, as well as various forms of geometrical shapes and vector lines that transform into compelling images. These subjects and notions are central to his creative process, showcasing his ability to merge different materials and themes into cohesive and visually striking artworks.
